EGER WINE REGION

Eger is about 1,5 hours away from Budapest by car.

The city of Eger is a well-known baroque city known for its incredible large wine cellars, magnificent caverns, and some of Hungary’s most famous wine centers.

What has made Eger legendary is its Egri Bikaver, a blended red wine that is also known as Bulls Blood.

Legend has it that during the siege of the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century, the Eger troops stained their beards and armor with Egri Bikaver which led the enemies to believe that they had drunk the blood of bulls.

Today the Tokaji aszú wine is the most well-known, internationally famous hungarian wine.
It is one of the most unique sweet wines in the world.

ETYEK-BUDA WINE REGION

Etyek is 35 minutes drive from Budapest.
This area straddles the border between the administrative regions of central Hungary and central Transdanubia.
It is at the heart of one of the youngest and fastest growing wine regions in Hungary.
Mostly makes fresh, crispy white and sparkling wines.
There are a lot of boutique wineries.
Etyek is also the home of Korda film Studios, where lots of international films were made (The Marshian, The Borgias, Red sparrow, Bladerunner 2., etc.).

Neszmély is a small riverside wine town in northern Hungary, located on the banks of the Danube River, 60 minutes drive from Budapest.

There are only about 1500 hectares of vineyards in the region, mostly containing white wine grapes
The Neszmély Wine Region has outstanding features in terms of soil, hours of sunshine and orientation of the slopes
The history of winemaking in Neszmély can be dated back to the medieval times.

Hungary’s warmest vine region has long, dry, sub-Mediterranean summers and mild winters. Villány is one of the most red wine producer of the country.
