Etyek - Buda wine region

It is a charming little village in Fejér county near to Budapest. Today the Korda Studios film production facility has also been established there.

Since the Roman Empire grapes have been grown in this region. Records from the 13th century certify that wine was being produced here in the Buda mountains. The vineyards flourished and grape growing became a main source of livelihood for the people of the region.

It is famous for it’s dry white wines and first of all for the sparkling – prepared with the “methode traditionelle”, secondary fermented in the bottle. Nowadays about 30 families make wine and sparkling in the small village.

Main grapetipes are the pinots -blanc, gris and as only red, the noir, – chardonay and sauvignon blanc, rieslings and hungarian types like „Little princess”, (Királylányka) Irsai Olivér, Viktória gyöngye (Pearl of Victoria) or the unproununcable „Cserszegi fűszeres”.

You‘ll visit very specially located, beautiful ancient cellars, nice gardens and taste fresh, fruity whites, and some reds too.
The atmosphere of the village takes you back in time!
Of course, modernity can’t be missing, most of the wines are made with modern technology.

Many of the grape growing traditions practiced today can trace their origins to the first half of the 18th century.
After expelling the Turks, German wine growers were invited to settle in the region and after a few decades a booming agricultural trade was established.
