Neszmély wine region
Neszmély is a small riverside wine town in northern Hungary, located on the banks of the Danube River.
North- West from Budapest, situated on the top of a mountain, Neszmély offers a beautiful view to the Danube-band.
Being one of the most north-lying vineyards, it offers nice, fruity dry white wines.
Documents proove that already in the roman times was wine making here.
Thanks to the limestone bedrock the wines could be kept for longer.
Most famous grapetypes are the Chardonnay, Italian Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Green Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Ottonel, Irsai Oliver, and Cserszegi Fűszeres.
As base of the rosés we find Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Merlot.
Most of them are made in stainless steel tanks, so you can enjoy their freshness and the primary aromas of the grape juice.
However most wines from the region seen in international markets come from Hilltop winery, who only reference the district around their home town – Neszmély.
Located on a hill overlooking the Danube, the Hilltop winery’s range of wines – particularly the whites made from the Cserszegi Fűszeres, Irsai Oliver and Grüner Veltliner grape varieties – have been attracting a great deal of international attention.
The most successful grapes in and around Neszmély are the aromatic white varieties.
